When I Return to the World debuts at #15 on this weeks club charts

A few days after releasing their new single ‘When I Return to the World’, Lorraine have entered this week’s club charts at number 15. So far 70% and 69% of the DJ’s have scored the release with a mark of 7 or higher in both ‘Club’ and ‘Personal’, and the B-side ‘Beyond The Sky’ has also received a number of positive remarks, with some contacts hailing the track as ‘a subtle gem of a song’ and as ‘a great mid-tempo melodic anthem’.

Lorraine return on 19th May with a brand new single through Waterfall Records UK. As you will know if you have seen the band live, ‘When I Return To The World’ is a standout moment from the live show, and has been going down a storm at recent shows in Norway.

The single is backed with a brand new track ‘Beyond Sky’, plus a remix package from current club darlings The Camel Rider and Manhattan Clique. It will be released on strictly limited white vinyl 7” and digitally. As with the previous limited single ‘Saved’ (which sold out in a matter of weeks last November) this new outing is available from the newly redesigned www.lorrainemusic.com for £2.99, delivered free anywhere in the world.

Lorraine will finally release their debut album, tentatively entitled ‘Pop Noir’, later this summer, They will also play their first UK live date of the year in June before returning to Norway for a jam-packed summer touring and promo schedule.

Hello folks, how are you all? Sorry there hasn..t been much action on the web-oriented side of the Lorraine machinery latelyJ As some of you know, we..ve been busy mixing the new tracks and doing artwork and stuff, a new video is also “under construction”, the actual shoot will be done next week!

Think it..s gonna be an animated/performance video.

We have also been travelling to Sogndal to play the Veka festival, it..s a very remote little community where about 88,543% of the population are students, and the rest extreme winter sports fanatics, which makes it a pretty good place to play for a band! The trip up(or down, or east, probably all) was great, the weather was amazing, which led to the infamous “sun through window headache”, it doesn’t help if you fall asleep with the Ipod on full volume, that combination gets you in a near-deaf sleepy haze.

The venue Meieriet is great, it..s the kind of old movie theatre style, which is my favourite. We had another band from Bergen, The Alexandria Quartet as support that night, it..s a bonus to play with mates, always sets for a great party. After sound check we sat with them for a while, listening to The White Album and drinking beer. Back at he hotel, we had beer and North-Western Norwegian Style Tapas, to much of it.

Back at the venue, The A.Q was playing a great set, we got in gigging shape, and the crowd was good and ready. The gig was great, we all had a superb time, and the audience was pleased. Backstage there was the usual aftershow party with everybody cheering each other and saying “good show, man” and “did you see that girl?”. We had good rooms that night, but we all spent about 45 min. there, like you always do when you got good rooms. When you have crappy rooms and sharing, you seem to be spending days there!

The week after, we played Vekas bullying, posh big-brother; Uken. This festival is situated at the Bergen Trade School, ten minutes out of town. This is a great little festival where some lucky few have seen The White Stripes, Primal Scream, Travis, + many more in a 1100 capacity venue! We have been looking forward to this gig for a long time because of it..s history, and our own memories of great gigs in there.

We played a late gig that night, before we got on, there were sets from The Grand and Mooving Oos. The gig was great, it..s always something special when you play for a home audience, it..s just the general vibe; everybody..s on the phone with someone in the que asking for guestlist, girlfriends drinking beer and chatting on a couch, hugging and proud parents and family, friends all whacked on free booze, agents and managers with a very good mood, loud music and cigarette smoke, people you haven..t seen in 14 years shouting your name from the crowd and so on. It..s good fun. The aftershow was held in a very, very small bar in the basement, about 100 kids dancing in 5×5 meters, just looked like a big nasty fight, we left after 2 minutes, heading for a private party with our friends. What a great night!

Next up is a film festival in May, recording a proper version of Tell Them All, shoot the video and release the next single. Hope to see some of you in Volda, that..s gonna be ace!

Happy New Year 2008 Folks!..

So, it`s 2008, or not until 2/07 in China, where they call it year of the Rat. Hope you all had a good new years eve, and following; a full recovery. We did, I think..

We would like to thank you all for coming to our gigs, and supporting us in all ways in 2007, the Pig year. Highlights for us include ByLarm, Quart, L.W, Water Rats and the one day with snow, plus two sunny days. It`s been great!

We assembled in the Almighty Rehearsal Room today to plan the spring; rehearsing, record and release the next single; W.I.R.T.T.W, play radio sessions, paint the kitchen, finish album mix, play the NHH in Bergen and more. An anonymous request to do all this from a hammock in Jamaica was declined after long consideration (it`s just so f.. cold here right now, it will go over, keep driving and flying people!).
